Advanced Mountain Bike Skills Courses.

This course is held in the Staveley and Kentmere Valley, South Lakes near Kendal LA8 9LR approximately 15 minutes from Jct 36 of the M6.

The aim of this advanced mountain bike skills course is to develop existing skills and to introduce new, more advanced ones. You will be tackling advanced rocky/technical mountainous terrain. Completion of this advanced course will equip the participant with the skills necessary to successfully ride the vast majority of natural cross country / purpose-built trails throughout the UK and Europe.

What experience you will need...

It is strongly recommended that candidates first attend the Beginner and Intermediate Courses or have experience of technical single track climbs and descents. If you have any doubts or questions relating to your personal skill levels please contact us.

Throughout this course, you will benefit from first-class instruction by a qualified mountain-bike instructor, developing your skills alongside people at a similar level with great off-road riding at this excellent venue.

Your fitness level...

This course takes place on advanced rocky/mountainous terrain. It is demanding and requires levels of fitness which will enable the rider to climb for longer periods of sustained effort (up to 25-30 mins of climbing). It may be necessary to push or carry your bike for short sections. If you have any doubts or questions relating to your personal fitness levels please contact us.

This said, by their nature, the courses are instruction orientated where techniques are demonstrated and explained in detail; all participants will then attempt and re-attempt the techniques to optimise individual skill levels.

What you will learn...

The aims of this course are to reinforce and develop the skills previously learned on the Beginner/Intermediate courses, and will also cover the following advanced techniques:-

On the day...

Course starts at 10am and finishes at approx 5pm.

Due to the nature of this course, knee/shin pads and elbow/forearm pads, bike helmet and gloves are a minimum requirement for this course.

Your bike...

It is recommended your bike be fitted with suspension forks with at least 100mm of travel and off-road tyres. A quality full suspension bike would be an advantage, but by no means essential.

It is strongly recommended that the bike be fully serviced by a competent person prior to the course. Mountain Bike Skills suggest all riders using their own bike to bring with them a spare set of brake pads/blocks.

If you’re not sure of the suitability of your bike please contact us or you could consider hiring a bike for the da

We have a selection of bikes for hire starting form as little as £15 per day for a basic hard-tail mountain bike with suspension forks.
