Mountain Bike Instructor Profiles - Clare
I’m the behind-the-scenes girl! I look after as much of the paper work as I can and write for the Bike Blog with Mike, but you will often see me out and about on the trails. I’m an uphill junkie – I love all the technical climbs. I ride a Giant at the moment, which I love, although Specialized have always done me proud in the past.
My favourite rides are the Howgills in Cumbria and Lady Bower reservoir towards the Peaks. I have also been known to break a grin on the downhill trails in Morzine!
The important point here, though, is I make sure the instructors get some all-important female input on what we find hard or challenging.
There’s a group of us who ride regularly and the technical skills we find more difficult to master seem different from the boys. I am forever nagging the instructors to make sure our needs are accounted for!

I am passionate about the outdoors and mountaineering in general. If I’m not on my bike then I am away ice climbing or mountaineering with the Lancashire Mountaineering Club, usually on a Munroe somewhere.
I love to see people out enjoying the countryside and their hobby. And thanks for all the giggles – keep joining in with the blog and Facebook to let us know what and where you are riding your bike!
